Our beliefs and values work together to create our mindset. In turn, our mindset impacts our thoughts, feelings, actions, and decisions.
Have your beliefs and values manifested into a fixed or growth mindset? Toward a view of the world where there is scarcity or abundance? Do you tend to see challenges as obstacle or opportunities?
Being aware the role mindset plays in our day-to-day decision-making is critical to improving our emotional intelligence. It is also critical when we want to see a change…when we want to see a shift in practice.
This shift in practice comes from shifting mindsets (ours or others).
A shift in mindset comes from peeling back and getting to the source. It comes from identifying core values and core beliefs that are held as sacred.
Thing is, we can’t make good decisions until we know what matters to us. Until we have some sense of what’s important, what we believe, what we value. When we know these things, decisions get easier. Something’s either aligned with our values and beliefs, or it’s not. If it’s aligned, it’s a yes. If not, it’s a no. ~Jonathan Fields, Author of How to Live a Good Life
